The Don CeSar

Oh to be able to live like kings all the time. Wouldn't that be delightful? A couple months ago I was trying to decide what to do for hubby's birthday. He loves being on the beach and just relaxing. I proposed the Keys, but it was going to cost us over $1k for 2 nights and the express boat down there from Ft Myers. So then we started talking about historic hotels in the area. I so wished the Belleview Biltmore was not being demolished. It had so much historic character. We got to thinking and the next logical historic choice was the Don CeSar. I told hubby I would book a very nice room and we could just spend a lovely weekend being beach bums. And that's exactly what we did.

We got there around 3pm Saturday and hung out at the outdoor bar for quite some time before enjoying a nice meal at their casual reataurant (we decided not to go for the fancy pants place).

We were going to rent a lounge bed on the beach on Sunday but the skies had other plans. So we lounged by the pool and had drinks and food brought to us before the rains forced us to head out.  We had already checked out and it was dinner time so we headed to Middle Grounds Grill for dinner. The steaks and scallops are phenomenal and it was a nice way to end a near perfect weekend. We concluded that we need to have these little weekend trips a lot more often. Not on such a grand scale but just a little getaway to focus on us.
